"Right now, I only have the offer from Northwestern State," said D.J. Lewis, "but I'm hearing from several schools."
Lewis, who rushed for 1,400 yards last season with 30 TDs, said that he's receiving interest from Mississippi State, ULM, McNeese St., and Louisiana Tech, as well as some other schools.
What does Lewis think about Northwestern State?
"They have stuck with me," said Lewis of the Demons. "The coaches are nice. I like (head) Coach (Bradley Dale) Peveto and I like the program. They're on the upswing."
Lewis said that he's scheduled to take an official visit to Northwestern State soon, but that he will likely not make a verbal pledge to any school.
"I'll probably wait until National Signing Day to make a decision," Lewis said.
Lewis mentioned that he's "very interested" in learning more about Louisiana-Lafayette's football program.
As a senior, Lewis was the key offensive performer on the Class A state championship Haynesville team. The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder was named first-team all-state as a running back. He also recorded 35 tackles on defense and picked off four passes. He has run a personal best 4.41 in the 40-yard dash, but says that he's "closer to a 4.5" right now.
Haynesville running back D.J. Lewis may only have one college offer to date, but recruiters are giving the senior plenty of attention.
