Focusing on Four

Will it be LSU, Bama, Florida or Miami?

One of the nation's top tight-ends is Louisiana's own Tyler Edwards (6-3, 238, 4.7).

Last year, while playing tight-end for Ouachita High School, Edwards took in 23 receptions for nearly 400 yards and added four touchdowns to go along with it earning him all-sate honors.

The Scout.com 4-star prospect recently made a trip to LSU with his brother to check out the campus again.

"My brother and I visited the LSU campus a couple of weeks ago," Edwards said. "I've been twice within the past month."

Did he see anything new?

"We just kind of walked around and I got a better feel for the area," Edwards explained. "This is going to be a big decision for me and I want to make sure I make the right choice."

Edwards lists LSU as one of his four favorites, but says they are in no specific order at this time.

"LSU is up there with Alabama, Miami (Fla.), and Florida," Edwards stated. "Everyday I receive text messages and phone calls from all of those schools except for Florida. I hear from Florida about once a week."

For Edwards, each school brings something different to the table.

1.) LSU

"LSU has always been my favorite team growing up," Edwards explained. "The school is in my home state and my brother also played football there as well. I do not mind moving out of state for school, but it wouldn't be bad to stay near home."

2. Alabama

"My brother played at LSU under coach Saban," Edwards said. "He said a lot of good things about him and I know coach Saban is going to be successful at Alabama. I know that for sure."

3. Miami (Fla.)

"I like Miami because they are known for putting tight-ends in the NFL," Edwards informed. "Within the past few years, Miami has generated a few first round draft picks at the tight-end position and that's something that really interests me."

4.) Florida

"Florida isn't really known for its tight-ends, but they have a successful program," Edwards stated. "They just won the national title and the campus has a great atmosphere. Another thing with Florida is they do not have too many tight-ends on the roster. That might create an opportunity for some early playing time and that is something that is important to me."

When will he make his decision?

"I had thought about deciding early to kind of get it out of the way, but I've decided it would probably be best for me to make my decision after this football season is over, "Edwards explained. "This is a very important decision for me to make and I want to look at all of my options before giving a team my commitment."

Edwards recorded a 3.0 GPA last school year and a 22 on the ACT.
