Alexander ready for championship game
Throughout this fall Alexander has been attempting to juggle his high school season with the recruiting process. Alexander has seen his recruitment take off in recent months, collecting seven offers from around the country, and interest from many more colleges.
"The recruitment is going well," said Alexander. "I have seven offers now, after Kansas State offered me last week. Northwestern has a lot of interest in me as well. They want to come to my school and check everything out because they are all about academics up there. They have to come see if my grades are in order and they want to talk to my coach."
While he hasn't had a chance to speak with them in a while, Alexander explained that he still plans on visiting LSU for one of the program's Junior Days.
"I know coach [Frank] Wilson was at our practice recently, but I didn't get to talk with him. I am planning on visiting LSU for one of their Junior Days. I'm not sure how everything is going to work out, but I will try to make it there as soon as I can."
Alexander explained that the next several months will be big for his recruitment. He plans on visiting schools that he has interest in, including a trip to the West Coast. He also plans to use the next several months to narrow down his list of potential college suitors.
"I'm definitely making a trip to California to see Stanford and UCLA," said Alexander. "I just want to visit schools that are interested in me or schools that I'm trying to get an offer from. I don't really have a top list of schools yet, but I have a few in mind. By the end of the summer I hope to have my top five together."
With teammates Malachi Dupre and Kenny Young both going through the recruiting process with Alexander, the 2014 standout said the topic of playing together in college has come up. Alexander expects there to be at least a couple of Patriots playing together at the next level.
"We have talked about a couple of colleges so far," said Alexander. "We haven't gotten too in-depth with it yet, but we would love to play together. I think a couple of us will end up playing together in college."
This weekend John Curtis will be playing Evangel of Shreveport for the state championship, something Alexander has been waiting for all season. Alexander expects a physical game between both sides, given how the last few meetings have turned out.
"We're playing Evangel and they're very good," said Alexander."There have been some great games between us recently. We just have to play hard the whole game and not get tired. They have a lot of good plays and we are going to have to stick to our assignments. It will be a pretty good game because both teams don't want to lose to one another."
While Alexander knows he will have to stick with his assignments against Evangel, he hopes to provide a major boost to his team throughout the game. Alexander believes he has figured out what his team needs from him in order to win this game, and he says he will do everything to help his team to victory.
"I'm going to try to stick to my assignments," said Alexander. "At the same time, I want to be a big playmaker in this game. I feel like I need to cause at least two turnovers in the game, whether that is fumbles or interceptions. I want to be that big-play guy this weekend that really has an opportunity to turn the tables in this game."
