NO. 25 RIVERSIDE ACADEMY (6-5) AT NO. 1 JOHN CURTIS CHRISTIAN (11-0) -- These Class 2A district rivals met in week five with John Curtis cruising at home. Eight different Curtis players scored touchdowns, including linebacker Duke Riley (55-yard pick-six). Patriots' senior QB Patrick Morton threw for 120 yards and three touchdowns, and sophomore QB Abby Touzet tacked on a rushing TD.

Curtis is currently ranked second in the nation. The Patriots have four seniors committed to Tulane: RB Sherman Badie, MLB Eric Thomas, DB/KR Richard Allen and OL Brandon Godfrey. Another 2013 RB, Tevin Horton, is a ULM pledge. Riley and Kenny Young are top-notch linebackers. WR Malachi Dupre, a junior, is rated four stars. DBs Terrence Alexander (2014) and Hunter Dale (2015) each hold BCS offers.

Riverside lost its first four before gaining momentum. The Rebels survived a brutal schedule that featured Salmen, Brusly, Carver and Curtis. QB Deuce Wallace has passed for more than 2,500 yards with 30-plus TDs, according to Lori Lyons of the Advocate.

NO. 9 SOUTHERN LAB (10-2) AT NO. 1 OUACHITA CHRISTIAN (12-0) -- OCS is looking to repeat as Class A state champ. The Eagles were perfect last year (15-0) en route to a title game win over West Saint John. Southern Lab has one of the state's better signal-callers in 6-foot-2 senior Deonte Shorts. OCS, which dresses 60 players (huge for 1A), has two quarterbacks that share snaps: junior Quin Graves and senior Braden Bristo. The pair of Eagles have combined to toss 24 TDs with only four interceptions.

NO. 5 CATHOLIC-BATON ROUGE (9-2) AT NO. 13 MANDEVILLE (9-2) -- The (5A) Bears and Skippers squared off in early September with Catholic getting the W (26-14). Bears' senior RB Khalil Thomas had the hot hand in Catholic/Mandeville I, rushing for 81 yards and catching four passes for 58 yards. Thomas is joined in the backfield by Derrius Guice, a 2015 RB with size and speed.

Mandeville is led by MLB Preston Winget and DB Jamar Mitchell. Both are seniors. Winget, who holds two offers, racked up 20 tackles in one game during his junior campaign -- when he was named first-team all-state.
