Texas-San Antonio safety pledge Dondre Dobbins has set an official visit to see head coach Larry Coker and staff again.

"I'm going to UTSA on November 30th," explained Dobbins, a hard-hitting senior who led the Scotlandville Hornets to the Class 5A playoffs. "The UTSA coaches are telling me they could use some help. They're looking for a nice safety who can be a force and be productive."

Dobbins holds additional offers from Alabama State, Grambling State and local FCS program Southern.

"Grambling offered this week," he said. "I haven't heard anything from Louisiana Tech in awhile, but I've been recruited by Coach (Petey) Perot. One of my coaches at Scotlandville has talked with Tech, and I might take an official visit.

"I'm looking into Southern Miss, but I'm still committed to UTSA. I'm supposed to talk with Coach (Broderick) Fobbs from Southern Miss."

Dobbins collected 50-plus tackles with two interceptions for 21st-seeded Scotlandville, which held a fourth quarter lead at No. 12 New Iberia Senior before falling in the first round last Friday, 13-8.

"I wasn't as productive as I hoped, but our front seven (led by DT Tanzel Smart) was great all year," said Dobbins, who watched on television as Louisiana Tech outlasted UTSA in a recent shootout held in Ruston. "I like UTSA. Their defense is a hard-nosed 4-2-5."

Dobbins and the Hornets -- ranked No. 5 in 5A during the preseason -- posted a 6-4 mark in 2012. Scotlandville lost to preseason and current Class 3A No. 1 Parkview Baptist, 27-12, in a week two tilt that served as the season opener for both Baton Rouge-area schools.

Both Scotlandville and Parkview had their respective week one games called off due to Hurricane Isaac.

Dobbins and his teammates were involved in several close contests such as a 26-25 setback to highly-touted Central, a 20-19 loss to McKinley, a 20-14 win over Live Oak and a 34-24 victory vs. a Denham Springs squad paced by LSU commit Tevin Lawson and Arkansas commit Kaleb Blanchard.

During the summer Dobbins starred on a Louisiana Bootleggers Elite 7v7 team that won both the LSU and Big Man on Campus Tourneys. The Bootleggers Elite also competed in the nationals in Florida.

He earned an offer from UTSA at camp and committed to Coach Coker and company in early August.
